Title: What boat do you sail know
Post by Gary on 10.01.2014 at 18:48:26

Well the board has been going for a long time and I was sat at home wondering what boats we are know sailing. Nick has gone very big to large sailing ships I believe. Myself and my wife decided ss much as we loved our 500 it was time after 20 + years to get something a little larger with a center cockpit so the following waves don't seem so big now we are retired. Our boat is now an older Southerly, vrry comfortable but more expensive to run. So let's hear from all you all Trapperites.

Yes, I usually spend the summer sailing on a two masted topsail schooner.

She is 62 metres overall, over a third of that is the length of her boom. She has a 42 metre air draft, but we can get her under a low bridge like Tower bridge by lowering her topmast :)

I do sail on other sailing vessels too sometimes but I haven't been on anything under 39 metres for 10 years. Of course I don't own these vessels, but I think that means you can enjoy it more!

I sold my 500 to Finland five years ago and have been busy building a Wasa 410. www.wasa410.blogspot.com

WOW!

I was doing some armchair sailing here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NapjDZ1-p18

Lovely looking boats with quite low looking freeboard - very slender.

I'll keep checking back on your progress now :)
