Wind generator support post removal
02.08.2018 at 09:33:59

Trapper 500,The wind generator stainless mounting sheared, and I now need to replace this, but first, I need to remove the broken SS pole. The base mounting is screw Roll Eyesed into the stern, but when I rotate the screws, they no not move up. The only possibility is that there is a nut, but how can I lock that, as the access behind the engine is almost impossible to access . Any suggestions?

To acces the underside of the stern rail you have to go through the cockpit locker. Remove the side panel and find some small person to get inside over the propshaft and hold the offending nuts. It actually took me an hour to get back out once so help is needed.

Dear Gary,
I;ve been asleep at the wheel recently, but thanks for you prompt reply, and I am now fully awake. I guessed that it may be the only way in, but the remaining SS pole is on the port side, and the locker access is to starboard.

I am slim for an old geezer, but I doubt that I would be capable of gaining access, so my only chance is to find someone very small to hold the lock nuts , whilst I unscrew.

Originally, when I bought the yacht, in March, I thought that she needed some tlc, but the task appears to be an underestimate, and I will just plod on. plod on.

Once again, I thank you for the suggestion, and if I ever make it, it,
I'll let you know,
regards, Giddy (George) Embarrassed
