Has anyone fitted self steering to a Trapper 28, I'm thinking about this so I can take up cruising again. They are so sensitive on the wind that I was thin king about a wind vane system on the stern not an autohelm.  Many thanks

I use an Autohelm 1000 on my T300 Star Trapper.
However a few years ago, singlehanded in the Channel Islands the wretched thing went on the blink. I rigged sheet to tiller steering & it worked a treat, albeit the cockpit looked like a cats cradle. I well remember passage from Guernsey to Alderney & the boat followed every wind shift with precision. No good of course when motoring.
